The chief goals of the study are to examine the issues involved in different aspects of watershed development and management and identify the strategies that need further attention. The main objectives are to a) determine economic viability of watershed technology, b) assess ecological impact of the technology, c) develop a theoretical framework for collective action in watershed management and d) formulate strategies for sustainable watershed management.

 

The study is based on intensive fieldwork conducted in 9 watersheds spread over three districts located in the three political regions of Andhra Pradesh. A sample of 450 households, beneficiary and non-beneficiary, will be covered for the purpose of impact analysis.
