The impact of technological modernization on the contractual relationships between the workers and their union and the management within a firm is examined in this paper. This calls for a scrutiny of the internal organization of the firm. The firm, from this view point, is no more a technological black box but a nexus of several treaties among its active agents. These treaties are likely to change with changes in the production technology. This exercise has been done in respect of some selected organized textile firms in India (Working paper No. 42).
